elements of news

Proximity: This has to do with location. If the event is happening close by, it will impact your readers more than if it is happening across town, or across the world, all other considerations being equal. A dance at your school, for instance, is more newsworthy than a dance at another school.
http://gobrazil.about.com/od/brazilcarnival/ss/carnavalbrasileiroaustin.htm

Prominence:
http://www.businessweek.com/news/2012-04-19/obama-to-renominate-nrc-s-svinicki-amid-silence-from-leader-reid

Timeliness: If something is happening NOW, it has more impact than something that happened yesterday or last week. Often, the most recent development is the feature of the story.
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702303513404577353991485029140.html?mod=googlenews_wsj

Oddity: If something is unusual, the oddity alone can make it newsworthy, because people want to know why it has happened.
http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/328242/20120415/mother-gives-birth-six-legged-baby-pakistan.htm

Consequence: If the impact of an event on your readers is major, they want to know all about it. For instance, they might not care that a particular street is being shut down for repairs, until it is brought to their attention that this will reroute the major portion of the traffic into their residential areas. This will affect them in a significant way, and they will want to know about it.
http://www.austinchronicle.com/news/2012-04-20/fta-new-start-funds-metrorapid-buses/

Conflict:
http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2012/04/heated_argument_between_sen_la.html

Human interest:
If a situation makes you angry, sad, happy or overjoyed, it contains the news element of human interest. Some stories are newsworthy on this basis alone.
http://www.wxow.com/story/17526491/judge-quits-travon-martin-case-cites-conflict
Readers have an interest in disagreements, arguments, fights and rivalries. If an event has conflict attached to it, many readers will be interested on that basis alone. Stories that involve conflict are those about sports, trials, war, politics and even Congressional debates.
This has to do with how well known the people involved in your story are. If the person or persons are well known to your readers, the story will impact your readers more than a similar story involving people they do not know.

This photo has many rules such as balancing elements, leading lines, symmetry and patterns, and depth. The horses on both sides show balance,  the lines lead you to the mountains, the horses break the pattern, and the main rule the moutains show depth it keeps going.

In this picture you can see symmetry and patterns because the boat in the bottom right break the pattern. It also balances both boats the big and small one compare. the background is clean and clear.

In this picture you can see  framing the candles frame the picture especially on the left corner. There is also symmentry and patterns because the candles up on the air are repeated. Thre is also depth the candles make it seem like it goes on and on.

Touching strangers

1. What do you think about this project and photo essay?
I think this project is kind of weird because you are touching people you dont know.
2.What would you do if someone approached you with a camera and asked you to participate in a photo shoot and then asked you to touch a stranger?
i would do it just for the fun of it.
3. Think of an unusual photo shoot similar to this one that you think would be fun to go and shoot
4. Finally, tell me what you thought of the photography, did the photographer think about the rules of photography that you know about? What types of photos did he take?

Japanese earthquake

Japan tsunami picture: aftermath in March 2011
This picture makes me feel sad and horrified because a earthquake caused all this, it broke down everything and people lost all they had. You can see rules of thirds by the smoke. they avoided mergers and dint cut out people.
Picture of a tsunami flooding a road after the Japan earthquake
This picture shows the strong waves that hit japan and caused a tsunami it makes me feel scared to be there.
Depth is shown by the waves they keep going and going. They dont have any merger because they are not cutting down any people.
Picture of a photo album partly buried in mud in Japan
All the memories people had in pictures and valuable items are now gone because of the tsunami destruction. Symmetry and patterns because there is wood i the background except in the left bottom corner there is a book it breaks the pattern. There is also a calm background that doesnt overpower the picture. The book also frames the picture.

Newspaper Notes

There is two types of newspapers.
Broad sheet is the big newspaper .
Tabloid newspaper is the small one.
To be a story it has to have a by line.
Average number of stories in broad sheet newspaper is 3-5.
On tabloid it is 1-2 stories.
News value is the most important story.
Two elements  on the top the name of the newspaper (flag) and a teaser.
Teasers do not have to have photos they can just be words.
The folio has three things that appear on it the Location, date,A motto .
Some newspapers have the prize of the newspaper.
A good front page should have a headline.
The headline should be written from the first paragraph and it should be interesting.
Sub headline tells more about the story it comes from the additional paragraphs.
You should have at least one sub headline on every page.
By-line tells you who wrote it and their positon.
The story is next. Pages should have pictures and you should have a dominate photo.
Their should be caption with the photo.
Caption head , Photo by, and actual caption .
Captions should answer the 5 W. who, what, when, why, where, how.
Rule is 2 sentences but mainly it should be 4 to take up space.
If you need to write more caption it should be background info or quotes.
Info graphics are to do more info in graphic form. Additonal info that are not available in the story.
Three pieces in the box are table contents, volume # , Issue #.
The mast head is the staff box.
Three things are the organizations , Editorial policy and the Staff.

Front pages of the world

1. I liked the one that was in New york because it looks like a magazine cover with a big picture and headlines.
2. My favorite headline is one that says it will take you inside the oscars parties.
3. There is two stories in the front page.
4. All the newspapers have at least one picture and headlines about a story.
5. Some newspapers have more pictures and text others look like magazine covers big pictures and just headlines to a story.

Magazine covers part 2

The Early magazine covers did not look like the nice cover they have today most of them used the table of contents as their cover. The ones that did have covers only had publication data. The poster covers looked like posters as to be framed and hung on the wall. This type of cover did not have cover lines or thmes or logos on pictures. They dint relate to a story in a magazine at all instead it showed a mood or season. The pictures married to Type were a cover line to draw readers to look inside and  read. They started expirementing with coverl lines. In the forest of the words they started using cover lines sometimes bigger than the name of the magazine. Todays covers fashion models use their own bodies to advertise the magazine.

Akins,Building,Hapyy

                                                                               Akins
I think this a very good photo i took of akins. What better of way to show akins than the campus itself. I think the brightness is perfect. The background is the sky so it makes the picture look better. You can see balancing elements, framing, and leading lines.
                                                                           Building
The theme was building and thats just what i took. I used the rule leading lines the lines on the building take you through the building, also symmetry & patterns because the tree messes up the pattern, i show depth in here the building shows it keeps going.
                                                                     Happy
I think this is a great photo. The theme was happy and she is smileing. I used the rule of thirds. I learned how to use photo shop corectly not to much or too less.

Holiday.

1. On Christmas we went to my moms friends house and eat alot and open our presents i got a lot of shoes, clothes, bags, scarfs so i was very pleased for what i got.
2. My New Year Resolutions for 2012 are to improve my grades in all my classes, to be better person and be more active.
3. Iam looking forward to turning 16 so i can finally get a job.

Best of 2011

1.  My favorite song of 2011 was if i die young by The Band Perry. Its a beautiful song with amazing lyrics. Its very calm but good at the same time. I love it. She has a good voice, its just fantastic. The song gives the feeling that people would finally begin paying attention to what one believed in, and that the singer is not scared of death, because she knows she had a good life. She states that if she dies young, then her family left behind should "save their tears" for a time when "they're really gonna need them."

My favorite movie of 2011 was Bridesmaids. It was funny and it was good movie. It gave me some good laughs and had a good story as well. its about a girl getting married and her bridesmaids are fighting for who is going to be the maid of honor.

3. The most impotant news of 2011 was that Osama bin laden was finally killed after all he did to our country he dint deserve to be out free. I think this news releaved alot of people. he was killed in pakistan on May 2, 2011.

I think the most important people of 2011 were Prince William and Kate Middleton. They had a huge wedding and were talked about all over the world. Its all like a love fairytale. They got married  April 29, 2011 in London. 300 to billion of people went to the wedding and 24,5 million watched it live in tv.

I think the biggest entetainment stories/Persons of 2011 was Kim Kardashian & Kris Humpries. They got married and lasted only 72 days till they got divorced on October 31, 2011.

Three best photos of 2011

This is one of my favorite photos of 2011 because these women are the first sam sex couple in Manhattan city.  It shows the love they have for each other and its a nice photo.

This my favorite photo of 2011 the couple is kissing while a riot is happening . You can see the police officers running while they are just laying in the street kisssing. I just love this photo.
This photo shows the beautiful city and in the back a huge dust storm in Arizona. Its a very nice view.
Overall its good picture.
