 Edward Steichen a American photographer, painter, art gallery, and museum curator. He was born on March 27, 1879 in Bivange, Luxembourg. He died on March 25, 1973 at age 93 at West Redding, Connecticut. Steichen married 3 times and had two daughters with his first wife their names are Katherine and Mary. Alfred Stieglitz asked Steichen to design the logo for the magazine. In February 2006 a print of Steichens early pictorialist photograph The Pond Moonlight sold for $2.9 million at an auction.There is 3 versions of The Pond Moonlight still in existence. He served in the US Army in World War 1, and the Us Navy in the World War 2, he commanded significant units contributing to military photograph.
